What is IC certification?
IC is the abbreviation of Industry Canada of Canada's Ministry of Industry. As a government agency, it stipulates the testing standards for analog and digital terminal equipment. It is responsible for the certification of electronic and electrical products entering the Canadian market, and stipulates EMC certification for imported electronic products. Its products are generally broadcast television equipment, information technology equipment, radio equipment, telecommunications equipment, engineering medical equipment, etc. Similar to the US FCC, IC currently only limits electromagnetic interference.
The two main ways of IC certification:
(1) IC self-declaration
(2) IC ID certificate
The need for IC certification
IC certification is a passport for electronic and electrical products to enter the Canadian market. Only through the certification of EMC can you enter the Canadian market for sales. It is a guarantee of quality and is more likely to be favored by customers.
IC certified product type
a) IC: issued by the laboratory that obtained the IC site registration code
2) IC ID: audited and issued by the FCB/TCB agency

(1) The manufacturer or agent submits a preliminary application, either orally or in writing, to the certification company.
(2) The applicant fills in the application form and sends the application form, the product manual and technical documents to the certification company, and if necessary, a prototype.
(3) The certification company prepares the plan and quotes it.
(4) The applicant confirms the quotation, returns the quotation, and sends the sample and related technical documents to the certification company.
(5) The applicant provides technical documents.
(6) The certification company issues a fee notification to the applicant, and the applicant prepays the certification fee according to the fee notification.
(7) The certification company reviews the technical documents and organizes relevant certification activities.
(8) If the technical documents are not perfect or the prescribed language is not used, the certification company will notify the applicant to improve.
(9) If the test is unqualified, the certification company will promptly notify the applicant and allow the applicant to improve the product according to the decision whether to suspend the project. The applicant should make changes to the technical information in the original application to reflect the actual situation after the change.
(10) The certification company will issue a supplementary fee notice to the applicant in respect of the rectification costs involved in Articles 9 and 10.
(11) The applicant pays the rectification fee according to the supplementary charge notice.
(12) The certification company provides the test report or technical documents and certificates to the applicant.

(13) The test report and information are submitted to the FCB/TCB for review and certification.

Technical information to be submitted for IC ID certification
1. "Application Form"
2. IC ID number (up to 14 digits, CN (company code 6 digits) + product code 8 digits)
3. Local agent authorization letter
4. Block diagram: all crystals, as well as the crystal frequency, need to be drawn and consistent with the circuit diagram;
5. Circuit diagram
6. Line description: The requirement is English, and the function realization principle of the product is clearly described;
7. Instruction manual
8. Test report
9. The label of each model (IC can not be applied in series) and the position of the label: the label must have an IC ID number, and the position of the label is required to be significant;
10. Product internal photos, appearance photos: require pictures to be clear and clear, if necessary, add notes;
11. Test photos
12. Technical specifications (including product transmission frequency, channel number, transmission power, modulation method, etc.)
Certification period
1. IC: 1-2 weeks
2. IC ID: 3-4 weeks
